About Gorge du Verdon

The Gorge du Verdon was carved by the Verdon River, with white-water rapids and cliffs in southeastern France. If nature is your cathedral, then head to the Gorge du Verdon. The river canyon is the deepest gorge in France. You won’t be able to get there by car, so plan your route along the rim, or hire a boat or kayak. For fantastic views from the top, a visit to Sublime Point is in order. You may not want to look down while hiking L’Imbut, a difficult hiking trail along the cliff face.

Go for a different kind of adrenalin rush by bungee jumping from Pont de Chaulière, or climb the Baume aux Pigeons, a large cave off the Martel Path. Hang onto both railings of the Passerelle de l’Estellier, a narrow metal bridge that spans the river between the Martel Path and L’Imbut. Climb down the famous Brèche Imbert, comprised of 6 ladders and 252 rickety steps. Don’t be afraid to take a step into the Gorge du Verdon, just remember to pack water, food, and a good flashlight.
