About Eisriesenwelt

Eisriesenwelt is the largest ice cave in the world, and it is located in the sunny little town of Werfen in Austria. The name is German for "World of the Ice Giants" and that is exactly what you will get to experience here. The cave is more than 42 kilometers in the distance it covers! The cave has a tour of its many sections, and it also houses the ashes of Alexander Von Mork, the speleologist who brought this cave to light. A fun fact about this place is that an old Austrian legend regards this cave as the entrance to Hell, so be warned. Legends aside, the cave is also a must visit for the sake of science, to see how ice forms beneath limestone in these caves. The caves also have some phenomenal views on the cable car and lift to the top that you must relish and capture.
