Canada’s Wonderland is the most-visited seasonal amusement park in North America, located in Vaughan, just north of Toronto, Ontario. It is the first major theme park in Canada, and is still one of the largest with 330 acres of park and 20 acres of water.
Every year 3.76 million visitors take a ride on the wild side at one of the themed areas: International Street, Medieval Faire, Action Zone, International Festival, Hanna-Barbera Land, White Water Canyon, and Splash Works.
Screams of absolute delight are heard everywhere through the park, from the Swings of Siam, to Drop Zone, and the roller coasters they surround. “Leviathan” is the tallest and faster roller coaster in Canada. “Behemoth” comes in second with a height of 230 feet and maximum speed of 77mph. Roller coasters come in something other than steel. “Thunder Run” is one of the five original coasters, and uses a drive motor and rubber wheel to pull it around the track. The “Mighty Canadian Minebuster” is the longest single-tracked wooden coaster in Canada. Roller coasters can be made even more exciting when passengers are suspended below the tracks and fly out over open water like the “Vortex.”
