About Le Chateau Frontenac

The heart of Old Quebec, development of the Château Frontenac began in 1892. The famous hotel was named after the governor of New France in the late 1600s, and defended the new colony against the British and Iroquois.

It is a landmark luxury hotel built on the edge of the promontory of Quebec, with a magnificent view of the Citadel on Cap Diamant.

Sit yourself down in the hotel where Mackenzie King, Winston Churchill, and Franklin D. Roosevelt planned the strategy to end the Second World War. Enjoy a bit to eat and something to drink at the Wine and Cheese Bar. The interior of the hotel is as marvelous as the exterior.

Royalty and celebrities have all stayed at the Château Frontenac. Maybe you’ll get lucky and get to spend a night in the same room. Or maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of Governor Louis de Buade, Comte de Frontenac, who has been seen in the hallways and grounds, even three hundred years after his death there.
