About St. Patrick's Cathedral

St. Patrick's Cathedral is one of the largest Catholic churches in the world. It is famed for its bronze doors, Italian marble and stone interiors, spectacular religious artwork, stained glass windows, and its many ornate treasures. It was designed by architect James Renwick and it took over a decade to complete the construction of the building, and work finished in 1800 with the spires added in 1888.

Found across the Rockefeller Centre on the corner of Fifth Avenue, the cathedral is so huge that it can hold about 3000 people in one service. It is very common to see visitors of St. Patrick's Cathedral light candles in prayer. Following the attack on the World Trade Center, many people visited the cathedral to light candles and the pressure caused the glass holders to shatter. St Patrick’s Cathedral is a must-see!
