About Cusco Cathedral

Cusco Cathedral is located at the main colonial square near Plaza de Armas. The full name of the cathedral is "The Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin." The cathedral has two small churches, the Sagrada Familia, and Triunfo. The construction was started in 1559 and it took a century to complete it.  There is the Church of the Triumph built in 1536 to the right and church of Jesus Maria built in 1733 to the left. The Church of the Triumph is the oldest church in Cusco that contains the remains of Incan Garcilaso de la Vega.
