About Beijing National Stadium

Niaochao Stadium, or the Beijing National Stadium, was officially constructed to host the Olympics and Paralympics in 2008 and will be again used in 2022. The magnificent stadium also known as the 'Bird's Nest' took four years to complete, occupies 258,000 square meters of space and has a seating capacity of 91,000 people. Designed by Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron in collaboration with ArupSport and China Architecture Design & Research Group, it has one of the best aesthetic and architectural design.

How to reach

By Bus:
1. Take bus 82, 419, 538, or 645 and get off at Guojia Tiyuchang Dong (Bird's Nest) Station.
2. Take Sightseeing Bus 3 and get off at Beichen Donglu Station.

By Subway:
1. Take Subway Line 8 and get off at Aoti Zhongxin (Olympic Sports Center) Station. Get out from Exit B2 and walk north for about 900 yards (823m)1. Take bus 82, 419, 538, or 645 and get off at Guojia Tiyuchang Dong ((Bird's Nest)) Station.
2. Take Sightseeing Bus 3 and get off at Beichen Donglu Station.

Tips

  • Book a tour in advance and hire a guide.
  • There's a security check at the entrance, so avoid carrying cigarette lighters and other dangerous items.
  • Don't miss the wintertime activities such as sled runs and ice-skating rink.
